Just in time for the holidays, Chattanooga clay artist Cathy Norrell is offering a workshop where participants will make their own unique clay angels. The workshop takes place on Saturday, November 10 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Artisan Depot in Cowan, Tennessee. Beginners are encouraged to join in; ages 16 and over are welcome. Participants will construct up to four angels using stoneware clay and patterns. Basic clay skills and use of tools will be discussed. Class size is limited to 12 participants, and all materials are provided. The workshop fee is $65 (paid in advance online) and there is a materials fee of $35 (payable at the workshop) which includes glazing, staining, and two firings. It is suggested that participants wear work clothes or an apron and that they bring their lunch and something to drink. Catherine Norrell works from her Spotted Crow Studio in north Chattanooga and has work for sale at the Artisan Depot and other galleries. In addition to clay work, Norrell works in mixed-media and more. The Artisan Depot is the gallery of the Franklin County Arts Guild and is located at 204 Cumberland Street East in Cowan, Tennessee. It is open each week from noon to 5:00 pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays and 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturdays.
