Beginner to Advanced Acrylic Art Workshop for ages 15 and up -
all skill levels are welcome.
Class taught by Cheryl Lankhaar Art Instructor, Illustrator of the children's book "The Monteagle Assembly, Kinsley's Story"

Class I Basic drawing exercises
Class introductions
Vase - face exercise
Upside down drawing
Pure contour drawing
Hand drawing
Use of negative spaces and shapes
Class 2 learning about values ( lightness and darkness)
Value drawing of 8 ball image with Pitt pens
Creating thumbnail sketches and the importance of
10 value scale exercise
Student does 2 thumbnail sketches of proposed painting
If time - begin a 2 color value painting in acrylic
Class 3 Learning and applying composition principles. Learning about edges and brush technique
Review composition fundamentals show some examples in magazines and have them find examples
Look at paintings in the gallery and find examples of different compositional styles
Practicing brush techniques in making soft and hard edges
Finish 2 color value painting
Class critique of value paintings
Class 4 Color theory and mixing
Begin color painting and paint in large masses
Class 5 learning how to create depth in a painting
Further development of color paintings
Class critique of color paintings
Class 6
Completion of color paintings and instruction on signing paintings

This a six (6) week class starting in Oct.
- Dates: Saturdays - Oct.5,12,19 and Nov. 2 and 9 2024 from 1 - 4:30 PM
Limited to 8 students
- Fee: $260 Class Fee for all six (6) Class MUST be paid in advance to ensure you have a seat and supplies. Class fee MUST be paid by Oct 2, 2024 in order to have supplies.
- Materials fee: $40 for class includes all needed materials - canvas, acrylic paint, use of instructors supplies including - brushes, value finders, Pitt pens , class handouts.

- Class description: Learn how to create vibrant paintings using acrylic medium. Acrylic paint has a very forgiving nature making it an ideal medium in which to learn basic principles and build upon existing skills.
