Whether you are a total beginner or a professional artist, workshops at Artisan Depot are a great way to learn a new skill or gain inspiration. Pre-registration is required; your payment is your reservation. All workshops listed take place at the Artisan Depot in Cowan, TN unless otherwise noted. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required.

OCTOBER 1 CLASS CLOSED
BACK TO NATURE- Participants will produce a Christmas tree design (two if there is time) using natural and recycled materials resulting in a modern and authentic look. Participants will learn the basics of floral design which validates nature. Instructor: Marion C. NATURE JOURNAL AS ART BOOK- Participants will make an accordion tri-folded nature journal with high quality watercolor paper and book board covers with fabric or art paper covers chosen by the participant. Additional paper folding techniques for producing a cut-out fold art book with nature motifs will be taught. STAINED GLASS CHRISTMAS SUN CATCHER- Participants will make stained glass Christmas sun catchers, learning the basic steps in applying copper foil and flux and finishing with lead solder, as well as cleaning and enhancement. LEATHER BOUND- Create a leather bound journal. Students will learn cutting, folding, and binding techniques. Various closures will be chosen by the participant. ACRYLIC POURS- Learn basic acrylic pour techniques and make at least one poured canvas. The class will cover color selection and paint mixing. Techniques such as dirty pours and clean pours will be covered. Some additional techniques, such as the bottle pour may be covered if time permits. FAMILY ART TOGETHER- Celebrate the fall season and Halloween with a fun and easy art project for the whole family. Participants will learn how to make wax resist paintings. This is a great project that you can repeat at home with common art supplies. We will focus on fall themes, though creative freedom will make this fun! This class is appropriate for kindergartners and up. (We will be using paint, so dress accordingly!) * children must be accompanied by a participating adult.
